The pain of an unhappy marriage doesn’t have to end in a long drawn out battle in the courtroom. You’ve already been through enough. The Collaborative Law process helps you and your spouse work together to save your marriage or to end it with dignity, fairness and a plan for a better future.

People are turning to collaborative law rather than litigation to resolve a number of family law problems, including separation, divorce and children’s issues, because it allows the parties involved work out the best solution together rather than fighting each other to win.

Collaboration is different from litigation and mediation. Because of the oppositional nature of litigation, husbands and wives become adversaries, and the process can turn families inside out. A typical litigated divorce case is war where there are no winners. The courts will end up making the final decisions about private family matters.

In collaboration each party has his or her own lawyer, but that is where the similarities to other divorce processes end. All parties have extra incentive to keep things civilized and as cordial as possible: if the case heads to litigation, the team members are disqualified from participating. Everyone has an incentive to work together.

Through the Collaborative process, you control the process and the outcome, with our professional team to steer you along the way. You can do what’s right for your children and for each spouse. And you can keep your private life out of the public records and public opinion.
